Hello grinders,
I started this thread to post my sickest hand of the day, win or lose.
In every session, as you know, there must be ONE hand that is just too sick. Whether it's a bad beat, suck/resuck, etc.
Please feel free to post your hands here, too.
Here's my first one to start.
I played live 1/3 $500 max bet.
V1, younger black male, nitty fish (bet sizing problems), afraid to get outdrawn, so he bet super big to protect his hands
V2, older Indian male, wide opening range, fish rec player, not afraid to bet 2nd pair OOP and showed his cards several times when everyone folded.
Hero's image was solid, boring tag? Just lost an all in pot $300 (ran into AA, hero didn't show)
V1 opened from UTG+2 for $15. Stack $150
MP2 Hero looked down at 10♠ 10♦ Stack $280 thinking about 3betting but decided to call. Hero was looking forward to seeing the flop and outplaying everyone in the pot.
V2 on the SB called. Stack $800
BB folded, 3 players to the flop:
J♥ J♦ 9♠ ($48)
V2 checked, V1 bet $15
Hero immediately put V1 on small pair or high cards and was afraid of the board. Bet was too small for his size. Thinking about reraising but wasn't sure what V2 in SB would do so Hero called $15.
V2 checkraised to $45, V1 immediately folded.
Now, Hero thought this guy might know V1 didn't have anything because of his weak bet, and Hero just called, must not have anything either, so V2 tried to take down the pot right here right now.
That was Hero's read.
Pot was $123. Hero had $250 behind and jammed all-in.
As soon as he said called, I asked do you have a J, he said no, do you have a nine? He said Yes.
turn 9♥ my heart sank
river J♣
V2 showed A♣ 9♣
I scooped the pot for a bigger FH.
V2 was so mad he took a break, the whole table was buzzing for a minute. It was great
LOL :)
Comments
Villain (10k) raised utg to 450, folds to me and I call (I'm sitting with 18k). Flop 4♠ 6♥ 7♦
I check, villain bets 900, I c/r to 1825 and villain shoves. I obviously snap with the nuts. He shows TT. Turn, 4, river T and he runs down my flopped straight with r/r boat.
The first one was my 4♣ 4♠ was up against Q♠ Q♥ on a Q♦ 4♥ 7♠
The second was my 8♣ 8♠ was up against 9♣ 9♠ on a 7♣ 8♦ 9♣
My all-in raise on the second hand was more questionable since the board was so connected. I lost about $400 total in those 2 hands. Lesson learned.
Amazingly, I still booked a $250 profit after the session was over
V was MAWG tight fish, bet sizing issues.
Hero was solid tag, played about 20% range.
Folded to Hero Button ($800)
K♦ K♠ opened for $15
SB folds
BB ($250) made it $100, LOL
I should have just folded face up :)) but I jammed all-in, he snap called
Flop: 10♦ J♠ Q♦ at this point he was covering his eyes, didn't want to see the board
Turn: 5♠
River: 6♥
V showed A♥ A♣
I should have flatted pre and seen what he'd do on the flop, oh well
Main V just sat down. Didn't have any history with him.
1/3 max bet $500
V open-limped from EP2, HJ, CO limped
SB called
Hero BB ($500) with J♣ T♣ checked
5 way to the flop:
A♦ 5♦ 7♣ ($15)
All checked
Turn K♣
SB checked, hero bet $30
V (stack $200) called, everyone folded
River K♦ ($75)
Hero gave up and checked
V thought for about 20 seconds and checked behind.
I had to table my hand first, so I flipped over my hand and V mucked
He said he was on a club draw too. He said he was lucky the club didn't come on the river.
LOL
And yes I had the back to back set ass fuck.
Sometimes I play a session and if I wasn't at a casino I would think the players are cheating somehow because it is literally 5, 10, 15 hands in a row.
This hand stuck in my mind.
Main Villain understood poker a little bit. I saw he 3 barrel in one hand. Flop he c-bet. Turn, he bet when he got backdoor flush draw. River bet when he got his flush, got called, so he had to show his cards.
I was pretty sure he's a 5/5 PLO player at my casino.
I would say he was one of the two villains that I thought were playing ok.
Game was 1/3 with $500 max bet.
Hero's stack: $350
V's stack: $400
It was a straddle ($7) pot by UTG-fish. 1 person called in front of Hero in HJ with 7♣ 10♣ (a little bit questionable, should raise or fold, but I thought these players were weak and didn't punish limpers a lot)
V on the button called,
SB folds, BB called, and
UTG checked his straddle.
5 way to the flop:
10♠ 6♣ 5♦ ($36)
Check to hero who bet $25. I was pretty sure my hand had a lot of equity with backdoor draws, so I bet for value. Most players were fit/fold fish except V who could make plays.
V called and everyone folded. Heads up to the turn:
8♦ ($86)
Hero bet $60. This card was a good card for me, so I bet quite large.
Hero had $258 left and pot was $146.
V thought for 30 seconds and put hero all in.
Well, I blocked 79 (the nuts) and V had just won a pot where he bet his combo draws, so I thought he's doing the same thing here because back door flush was coming.
Plus, I was pretty sure my open ended straight draw were live outs.
So hero called pretty easily.
River 10♥
V whispered "2 pair" and showed 6♦ 7♦
V was thinking the same thing. He blocked the nuts with open ended straight and a flush draw. But my top pair still crushed his hand 61%-25% with 14% tied.
The whole table was amazed how great of a call it was (bragging a little bit).
LOL
HJ CO and Button limp ($10) and I decide to be a donk and raise it to $65 with the ole 7 dewey (sometimes I will light money on fire to be dumb/funny) from the SB (it’s just too fun to turn that over when it folds—especially since most people think I’m a nit). Well cutoff and button call.
Was going to give up, but got a pretty good flop to Cbet (even though the button only had like 120 left). A♠ 7♥ 9♥. So I bet $120–thought this would look super strong to the CO and the short stack on the button would fold probably fold if she didn’t have a 9, A, or FD.
Well they both call... I’m dead.
Turn brings the flush, and it goes check, check. River brings a magical duece. It goes check, check again (maybe should have bet small for value).
I sheepishly whisper “two pair” and they both say that’s good. I flip it over and scoop the pot.
Game was 1/3 with $500 max bet.
V1 had been waiting for a seat for about 1 hr (we only had one game running at 4AM and it was a full table). I told him I would sell my seat for $100 but he said no.
Finally he got a seat. As soon as he sat down he bought in for $100 (33bbs) and he won like 7 out of 10 pots because he got hit by the deck. Big pair, 2 pair, flush, type of hand. Obviously, he played every hand so I was kind of tilted. I think he put the whole table on tilt. LOL
V2 was a 3/5 reg, played good. He, too, got run over by V1. LOL.
V1 stack $400
V2 stack $500
Hero stack $900
UTG fish opened from EP to $15
V1 called
V2 called from MP
Hero on the button looked down at 9♠ 9♣ and 3 bet to $50
Big mistake, 99s was not on my 3 bet range but UTG fish would fold, V1 had been playing every hand, and I thought V2 respected my 3 bet.
I got what I wanted, blinds folded, UTG folded, V1 called and V2 thought about it for a while and folded.
Heads up to the flop:
6♦ 7♠ 8♣ ($134)
V1 checked, Hero bet $100. Super bloated pot!
V1 called. Once he called, I knew I needed to make a straight and he's not folding.
Turn Q♥ V1 checked, hero checked
River Q♣ V1 checked, hero checked.
V turned over K♥ K♦
I should have flatted pre and saved money. This hand cost me 1/3 of my winning for the night. Oh well....
Flop could be checkback but I like a small bet of about 40% pot to clean out the overcards and get value from some pairs.
Overall, you actually didn’t lose much. V1 played this hand way worse than you did.
This is my problem when I play a smaller game, I get bored and do something stupid (this was a 500 cap game, it just happened to have a straddle which is why the blind was $10).
I can't thank you guys enough for the help via this community.
The game is my usual 1/3
V1 is a super fish regular. Always buys in for $100. He plays maybe 3-4 times a week.
V2 just sits down because his table broke. He comes to the table with $450. It looks like he's winning because he's the ultimate recreational player. And our game only allows $300 max buy in. So that's why I come up with a conclusion he's just having a good night playing poker (I haven't seen him ever at the casino).
V1's stack $150
V2's stack $450
Hero's stack $700
The table was very soft and passive.
V1 UTG limps
Folds to Hero in the CO with 3♠ 5♠ and raises to $12. My plan is to be heads up with V1 at UTG or maybe one of the blinds.
A little bit loose, but I think I have really good reads on people who are left to act.
V2 calls on the button, blinds fold, V1 UTG calls.
3 way to the flop:
A♦ 3♦ 8♣ ($40)
V1 checks, Hero checks, V2 bets $20
V1 calls, Hero calls.
Turn 7♥ ($100)
V1 checks, Hero checks, V2 bets $35. Again, super small bet. I'm very sure he has an Ace or an 8. There's no way he's betting flush draw twice.
V1 calls, Hero calls.
At this point, V1 is either drawing or has similar hand as V2.
River Q♦ ($205)
V1 checks but the way he says "check" is a dead giveaway he doesn't have much. So no flush for him.
Hero bets $150
V2 tanks for about 30 seconds, gives a second look at his cards and the board, then folds.
V1 folds and says "Take it down, Cap"
LOL.
I've decided to never show my cards if not called, so I didn't show the bluff
I played 3/5 with $500 cap tonight because my 1/3 game broke.
Hero's stack $400
V's stack $2,000
V is maniac lucky asian reg who thinks he's really good. V straddles UTG to $15.
3 callers in front of Hero in the CO with A♣ K♣
Hero raises to $85
Fold to V who raises to $185
all folds to hero who raises all in for $400 total
Heads up all in to the flop:
A♥ A♦ 4♠
Turn 6♥
River 3♣
V shows 5♦ 7♥
I will remind myself. Never play 3/5 again until I have 15K bankroll
UTG (only pro at the table) makes it 30 UTG (really UTG+1 cause we had a $10 straddle going) 9 handed. Everyone calls and it gets to hero on the button who 3! To 170 with 2 black queens. Folds all the way around to the CO, who is a drunk VIP, who calls? Effective stack is villain with $850.
Flop comes K104 :r:
Check, check.
Turn comes 10 and brings back door spade draw. Villain leads for 30? And hero calls.
River is J♣ (so the flushdraw misses)
Villain moves all in for about 650 more... I tank call and villain flips over A3 offsuit. I scoop a nice pot!
I was involved in a big pot courtesy of 2 Vs.
Game is 1/3 with $500 capped bet
V1, MAWG, I see him a couple times at the joint. Nothing special. Just a regular fish.
V2, Middle Age Asian Guy waiting for a seat at 5-10-25 PLO game (biggest game at the casino), maniac gambler. Maybe this game is too cheap for him.
V1's stack $600
V2's stack $450
Hero's stack $300 just sat down with max buy in
V2 straddles to $15 from UTG
Folds to Hero in the CO with Q♦ J♦ and raises to $45 ---- I'm confident as heck I'm the best player at the table, LOL
V1 from SB cold calls
V2 UTG straddle calls.
3 way action to the flop.
Flop 6♦ 6♣ 3♦ ($138)
V1 checks, V2 bets $50
Hero calls, V1 calls
Turn 8♦ ($288)
V1 checks again.
V2 moves all in for $355.
Hero makes an easy call for less, my stack is $205 at this point.
V1 says "alright.....good hands....." and calls!!
We flip over our hands before the river.
V1 shows A♥ A♦
V2 shows 6♥ 5♦
V1 is screaming for a diamond but hey...there are lots of diamonds already out there.
V2 knows he's doomed.
River 9♥
I take down a nice $900+ pot
LOL, that's what I get for getting beat by runner2 straight when flopping trips aces!!
1/3 game
I have a very good table. Lots of newbies, 1 ok LAG player, 1 Middle Age Asian Maniac, and no regs, so nobody knows how I play...YUM...YUM...
Villain is the MAAM.
Hero's stack $380
V's stack $360
V raises from EP to $15, 1 player in MP calls,
Hero on the SB looks at Q♠ Q♣ and raises to $45
V calls and MP calls.
3 way to the flop:
J♥ 9♦ 6♣ ($138)
Hero bets $125 for value.
V calls, MP folds. Heads up to the turn:
5♣ ($388).
Hero goes all in for $210. There's no doubt in my mind I have the best hand here.
V calls
River 8♠
V turns over 5♦ 7♥ for a straight.
The whole table is buzzing, wow, how did you make that call? and V yells, please don't make comments, I play with my own money, I take the risk, etc.
I don't say a thing and am busy reloading.
I have another bad beat that I don't even care to relive it here. So 2 bad beats cost me 2 buy ins right of the gate.
But I end up winning a bit $190 by punishing V, I limp raise with JJs and double up, etc.
Plus, I get a high-hand jackpot for $500.
But I don't count my high-hand as winnings in my poker app and my hourly winrate is going down!
Please only good runouts from now on
