Getting 1/4’d on the river. Estimating your call.

I’ve had this written in my PLO8 notes from one of Bart’s Videos..

“When considering a call when you might be getting quartered: you are paying 1/2 the amount of your call to win 25% of the pot.
$250 bet into $600 pot
-Paying $125 to get $150
-$25 profit on your call”

Here’s a hand from earlier.

I have the Nut low on the river

Pot: $400
Young guy Pots (Pot $800)
Ray all in for $234 (Pot $1034)

My Stack: $400
Call 1/2 my stack ($200) to win 1/4 of the pot
($1034x.25=$258.5)

Ended up getting quartered and was shipped a little over $350 (sorry i forget the exact amount)

But based on how I interpreted what Bart said. Shouldn’t I have a $458 stack at the end of the hand? What am I missing here?

I think I figured it out...

So I included the pot bettors $400 in my estimation of the pot. So in the future my notes should read

When considering a call when you might be getting quartered: you are paying 1/2 the amount of your call to win 25% of the MAIN POT
    $250 bet into $600 pot
(don’t include the $250 bet and make the Pot $850!!!!!)
    -Paying $125 to get $150
    -$25 profit on your call

I don’t subscribe to videos anymore so apologies to Bart if I copied his Tip down wrong
