Areas to Stay in LA

My wife and I might be making a weekend stop in LA sometime this year. My wife's grandmother lives in downtown, and I'd like to use the opportunity to visit The Bike/Commerce. She might also want to do some sort of the usual tourist blah blah.

Where is a good area of town to stay for these competing demands? LA is intimidatingly large, and I'm from Houston!

I would not suggest anywhere near the bike or commerce. I would suggest downtown long beach, Anaheim, or the South Bay Area.all of these places are reasonably close to the bike and commerce. The South Bay would also allow you to check the hustler.

What Arenzano said. Anaheim may be a little far if your wanting to do the LA and Hollywood tourist stuff. Not too far, I guess I should say the traffic is really rough up (and back) from Anaheim.

Downtown is actually close to the Bike and Commerce, has a thriving restaurant and bar scene and is in between the casinos and the tourist stuff in Hollywood. Limon never even goes west of the 110 any more.
