Anyone have any experience around OKC? I remember that Bart did a show on a trip to the WinStar a long time ago, but I am going to stay close to the city. I think the WinStar is a couple of hours south of the city.

What about the Riverwind Casino?

I will be there for two days in August on business.

Any suggestions?

And last but not least, are there excessive rake or other oddities that make the games bad?

From what I understand, Riverwind is the only place around OKC that's worth going to. I've paid pretty close attention to it on Bravo for the last few months, and the games seem consistent enough unless you're going at 9am on a weekday. Just 1/2 and 2/5.

I have been to Winstar multiple times, and Riverwind and Winstar are both Chickasaw casinos. If it's like Winstar, it's 100BB capped games and $5+$1 rake. At Winstar they take the jackpot drop out of the SB pre-flop, which is kind of annoying but really doesn't make that much of a difference.

Winstar isn't worth driving to if you're going to OKC. On the whole, Winstar is pretty good - lots of action 24/7, the room is close to the door, bathrooms in the poker room, drink station, food service in the room. If you want anything other than the poker room food it's a giant hike, though. Also, their 5/10 doesn't seem to run consistently except on the weekends, if that's your thing.

If you're only here for 2 days then Riverwind is the only place to go. Winstar is great but it is a 2 hr drive and it just isn't worth the 4 hr round trip unless you can put in a ton of hours. I'm a reg at Riverwind. We get 2/5 every day around noon. Sometimes 2 tables go after a few hours on weekdays. On weekends there are always 2-3 tables going during the evening. See you there.
