After yet another frustrating session a couple weekends ago (broke even for six hours at 2/5, then lost three buyins in one orbit on two bad beats and a tilt-shove with bottom pair into the nuts), I signed up for CLP, and have been just devouring everything. I've discovered some massive leaks in my game, and am excited to put what I've learned into practice.
This weekend, I'm heading down to Vegas for a couple days for my birthday, sans wife and kids, to do nothing but play poker. My goal is to play 15-20 hours of 2/5 on Friday and Saturday, and then 15-20 hours at 5/10 on Sunday and Monday. It is not entirely about the money, but more of a "reward" for a hard-working and successful year on and off the felt.
I have three goals (in order) for this trip:
1) Have a great time - I worked my ass off this year, both professionally and personally. I've achieved more than I thought possible in my business life, and have supported my family in every way imaginable. My wife and I both agree that I've earned a few days to devote myself to my hobby.
2) Apply some of the information I have learned - I haven't played a single hand of poker since I signed up for CLP in mid-November. I've learned so much from the podcasts, videos, and forums. I'm excited to put it in action. I'll certainly misapply some concepts, but just putting these ideas into play is very thrilling.
3) Make some money - The money I'm playing with isn't life or death, and even if I lose every penny I'll be playing with, it will have no impact on my family. However, it's how we keep score, right?
I'm getting into Vegas Friday afternoon and staying through Monday night. When in Vegas I usually play at Bellagio. But since the WPT is there starting this weekend, I'll probably avoid the hoopla and play at Aria instead. If anyone is down on the South Strip this weekend, hit me up!
