Perfect Play vs. AA

Wanted to get some feed back on what people thought was the best play in this hand.

Stacks: $700
Game: NL 300 to 500, $5/$5 blinds

Villain: Rec player with a few moves. Can bluff and Hero call but overall a Rec player. Winning today.
Hero: Known LAG but had a losing image and had been playing TAG (although the Rec may not have noticed). Although had just won with a FD after getting it in behind.

Villain opens to $30 from MP. This is a sizing tell of his and so far it has always been a big hand. His normal open is $20. It is HU to the flop.

Hero BUTTON calls with (55).

Flop is Qd, 9d, 6c. Pot ($70)

Villain looks back at his hand and exposed two black aces (AA). He doesn't mean to expose the cards but his just isn't careful with his hand. He bets $40.

Hero calls with the intention of 2 barreling any diamond on the turn.

The turn is a 7c. Villain bets $60 and Hero folds.

The question I have after looking back at the hand is the flop call good? I do not think he is going to always fold to 2 barrels. Not sure if the pot offers enough to chase a turn flush draw + my two outs.

In the end, is the perfect play to just fold the flop and save the $40? Is there any merit in 2 barreling the FD expecting him to call the turn but fold the river?

trying to get an opponent of AA is definitely not a profitable move in low stakes. Unless you have very specific reads on villain, which does not sound like it's the case here. So, just fold the flop, no need to get fancy in this spot IMO.

If you are THE jcw then I agree with Whatsyourplay. Dont try to get a player off of AA.. especially after he has exposed his cards.. Just not +EV.. Also you have a bad image.. Even if this rec hasnt recognized this in this session, if he has played with you before then you are more likely to get called..

I would play it as a fold..

It's a fold. Maybe if you have seen him make big folds before but you said he can hero call. Not a +EV play.

Rec players don't come to the casino to fold AA
  • Thanks for the feed back. Yeah immediately after calling I thought it was a bad play. As the goal is to hit a set and get AA to pay me off.

And Wendy why would anyone pretend to be me? Thought I would try out the Crush Live Poker videos and so here I am.

I started my forum life at KillPhil and stayed with those guys for years. Then the forum died and I did try 2+2 but could never really get any good advice through all of the trollers. 2+2 is good for amusement but not real strategy.
