Poker Night in America

I actually thought the quality of play on the shows Bart was on was much higher than recent episodes. Shaun Deeb is even playing like a complete donkey as of late. So I have to beg the question to Bart or anyone that may know: is this just monopoly money these guys are playing with on the show? I mean it's 25/50 so it's not exactly a low-stakes cash game even for a professional (and especially a "tournament pro"). It seemed like you were taking it pretty seriously, Bart. Is everyone just this bad at live poker? If so, how do I get on the show?

My money wasn't monopoly money. It was bought from the Turning Stone. BTW have you seen newer episodes of PNIA my DVR just keeps picking up the repeats. When exactly are the new episodes on?

Poker night in America seems really interesting as well as challenging for the players as well as for the casino owners. Lets see, how I find it?

In the Poker Night in America at Choctaw - Tuch's commentary made me turn off the sound.

I get as a commentator that you're tired of calling the action and talking poker...
But could you imagine watching Monday Night Football - and the guys talking about how amazing their first child is, politics, what they think Jim Carey's best movies are and getting updates on hockey games and their fantasy teams?
PLUS berate their followers by telling them to "shut up?"
    Really?
(If I wanted to tune in to the David Tuchman Show..... I'd sign up for the free UTG podcast.)

Seems to me that if you want to make the broadcast "fun" - then it should be relevant to what's on the screen.
But to be fair.... as of late, ALL the PNiA commentators have been phoning it in.
(So not just picking on Tuch)
    Terrible broadcasts.
Makes me think they must be getting paid in poker comps.

    As time went by...
....watching Bart and Alec play in a game where Poker's Carrot top - Carrol is the only action made me turn off the entire broadcast not too long afterwards.
Not much to be learned or enjoyed when all the pros play nitty and the commentary talks of anything but poker.

    If Rush Productions is listening...
they should understand that having 10k subscriptions to their poker channel after 4 years is NOT a good thing...
esp. when you consider that there are more than 23 million people play poker regularly in the US alone.

    Note to producers:
Nobody wants a "fun" poker channel where you get a glimpse into a player's lifestyle or personal tastes....
WPT and WSOP both tailor their broadcasts with declining ratings to such a formula.
The world ain't waiting with bated breath for another Norman Chad.

Nobody wants to see Phil Hellmuth play nitty in a cash game and lose his stack - yet again - cuz he sucks.
Nobody wants to see a 7-handed game where players take frequent breaks causing the game to play 6 or 5 handed for extended periods of time.
And nobody wants to see a female Poker Night in America... just because they're women.
For f**k sake.... recruit the best players and let them battle it out!

The winning formula - and still considered the best poker broadcasts of all time - was presented by GSN called the High Stakes Poker....
Force players to put in antes so they played more hands.
Set the minimum buy-in at a higher level.... higher than 100bb.
    Play at least 8-handed.
Have the commentators talk about poker hands or players... not their personal lives.
Allow the table talk to take precedence over commentators' egocentric rants.
Have player backups ready in the wings to fill up an empty chair when bad players like Phil Hellmuth or Cantu busts out.

    Consider this:
When GSN had HSP available on YouTube - their video had 10K hits within a week!
    PNiA can do better.
In fact, they can easily be the best broadcast in the world.
But that won't happen if they continue down this road....

I agree that they should ether increase the min buyin or prohibit straddling. The short effective stacks forces people to play tight like a tournament, not loose and aggressive like a cash game.

I gain very little as far as poker knowledge by watching these PNA cash games . One of the biggest turnoffs to watch is Jen Tilly. Something about her and yer yackity yack voice is quite irritating. I could also picture her wearing some kind of stale perfume. If she busts out its like "Oh well Phil will write me a check for 30k and ill buy in again ha ha "

The way the economy is today with people grateful just to have a job or make ends meet, we have the rich slobs living the life of riley splashing chips like water at the poker table with total disregard in value of a dollar . As far as Tuchman? I don't agree with everything he says but his UTG show is pretty much dead on . He could actually charge $$ for his podcast and i would pluck down the bucks to listen. His last episode featured east coast rossi via skype . Here is a guy that i dont mind listening to. He has gone broke on more than one occasion but on the flip side has made a fortune on more than one occasion. His mixed games consist of Poker, Sports Betting, Blackjack . In the last two years he made 10 million (documented earnings) playing BJ, a game which i played for years with little if any success yet it is refreshing to hear about someone making a killing from a table game which favors the house immensely

. If you get a chance to listen to Tuchman lastest podcast . Rossi expressed his opinion about the Marty Derbyshire article in which he berated poker players as being lazy non contributors to society. Rossi has a few choice words to say about people living off the fat of the land being responsible for a man losing his job for asserting his 1st amendment rights A few of the spoiled brats like Haxton who have made millions playing poker whether it be live or online, took offense to the article and blasted Derbyshire on social media. Because a nerve was hit along with their fragile little egos , it cost this man his job with Poker news

. Contrary to popular belief some of these high profile players have six figures in the bank . Not in bankroll but in the bank . They are not stupid they save money in a separate account in the event of a huge downswing . They can pay their bills Mr Derbyshire might have a hard time just making ends meet all because he had the balls to speak his mind

Its more annoying hearing about politics , their children. kids going to college how many business they own blah blah when im playing live . One has to question how successful their lives are away from the poker felt when they are playing $120 tournaments and $1 $2 cash games. Who give sh? Its annoying and arrogant to listen to how great their lives are or how successful their kids are . "my kids are my life " No kidding if you have kids of course they are your life . but who cares .? You want a sounding board or you just love hearing yourself talk? Go somewhere else. No room at the poker felt for trivial chit chat Besides it ruins my concentration

I don't watch these because i don't have the time. But if you listen to any sports commentary, they have to fill in the dead time with something. There is only so much discussion about a hand that can go on.

Other sports don't have to commentate for 8 or so hours.

you don't know what you're talking about here.
Tilly is a VERY unconventional player... but so is Phil Laak.
Both quite successful in their own right.
You could learn A LOT from watching how they play and understanding why they make the decisions that they do. The Tilly/Berkey confrontations were very interesting and enlightening. Unfortunately, they didn't happen often enough.

BTW - Tilly has TONS more money than Phil. She doesn't need his cash. She's a successful actress that has tons in the bank. If you have watch Tilly progress as I have - she's become a tough and thoughtful opponent. Yeah, she can be diva-ish and annoying. But she's no pushover.

Tilly is not rich because of her acting career, she is loaded because her ex-husband is Sam Simon, developer of the Simpsons.
