5 10 game. Effective stacks 2200.

Villain is an Asian older gentleman. Not a full fledged omc yet. But on his way.

Limp by bad player utg. Omc comes in raising for 55. His first raise in an hour. Hero calls 77 on the button. BB calls. Bad player calls.

Flop 225

746r

Check. Check. Omc bets 150. Hero raises to 300.

Fold. Fold. Omc snap calls.

Turn 825

746 9 r

Omc checks
Hero asks to see omc's stack and bets 525. Is that a strength tell?

Omc doesn't think too long and calls.

River 1875

746 9 3

Omc checks.

Hero? About 1300 left behind. How much would you value bet?

This is the worst card in the deck to get value from.

Which of the following options would you prefer?

A. Bet 200 and act scared.
B. Bet 600 and hope omc makes a bad call.
C. Bet 900 giving the omc the comfort of not going bust should he make a bad call.
D. Ship it on omc and pray that he has lost his mind to call it off with an overpair here.

Jam for max value. It's unlikely the Omc is very sizing sensitive once you go beyond 'large' (he probably won't differentiate between different variations of large so go for the max)

I think 900 is the minimum you'd bet of all options. If he is calling $500 bets relatively quickly than $900+ is a must on this run out.

It's quite hard to shove here and get a call. Bet 600 seems most profitable.

I would raise much bigger given stack sizes on flop, eg 500. This type of player never folds overpairs. This will make it easy to set up shove by river on almost any run out.

    Old Man Coffee.

guy who reads the news paper while he plays, waits for aces and gets all his $$$ in.

OP, what's our image at this point. We gotta one-liner here, we gotta play off how we are perceived.

    Herow.

To clarify I meant overpairs on this type of flop.

I think I'd bet $730 (still a pretty big bet for live poker).
Anything too much bigger and I think villain starts to consider hero folding. Hopefully the 1 liner makes villain think we are polarized to a straight or nothing.

I am betting on the smaller side personally. If I thought that villain is more likely to fold. If he is the OMC that wont fold a big pocket pair then I dont see why you just go all in..

    Thanks for the responses guys.

I thought he was good enough to fold an overpair on that card if I shoved. So many of the hands he was hoping to beat at showdown now sucked out on him.

    Spoiler:
So I bet 200 into the 1800 pot. May be 600 would have been better against the more average omc population. OMC looks at me like I am crazy and raises to 1000 by casually flicking in 2 $500 chips. I snap call. OMC proudly turns over TT hahahahaha. I don't know if he thought he was value raising or bluffing. OR if he made a mistake thinking his $500 chips were actually $100 chips. Either way, a funny hand.

Isnt that type of bet called the reverse cowboy?
    :)

He must not really be an OMC if he raised your river bet. Most OMC would just call with the line you took

Either donk flop or C/R way bigger on the flop. Most people don't fold an overpair to a single C/R even if you make it at least 500. Then it's easy to bet enough to get stacks all-in later.
